According to the Bank’s website, the objective of this project is to increase access to pre-primary education, improve the quality of lower primary education and improve the management of basic education.
The proposed operation covers the Malawi Country Phase of the Advancing Innovative Methods to Promote Learning (AIM4Learning) in Eastern and Southern Africa Multiphase Programmatic Approach (MPA), pending approval by the World Bank’s Executive Directors, with the first phase (P507220).
The operation has three results areas (RAs), aligned with the pillars of the MPA.
Results Area 1. Transforming learning spaces for school readiness and foundational learning;
Results Area 2. Building an effective teacher workforce for inclusive foundational learning;
Results Area 3. Strengthening financing of education.
Risks associated with the IPF Component are considered moderate owing to the environmental and social risks of the TA activities including capacity building and address measures identified in the Program Action Plan of the PforR that are not yet completed.
