According to the Bank’s website, the objective of this project is to support the Government of Papua New Guinea reforms to: (i) promote fiscal sustainability; (ii) strengthen trade facilitation and market access; and (iii) improve resilience to climate change, natural disasters and health emergencies.
The proposed Development Policy Financing (DPF) aims to support the Government of Papua New Guinea in promoting fiscal sustainability, strengthening trade facilitation and market access, and enhancing resilience in the climate and health sectors. This is a standalone operation, designed around three Program Development Objectives (PDO) and Pillars to: (i) promote fiscal sustainability; (ii) strengthen trade facilitation and market access; and (iii) improve resilience to climate change, natural disasters, and health emergencies. Given capacity constraints and fluid policy environment, the operation is designed as a single-standalone DPO, focusing on a compact set of front-loaded, high-impact reforms that are feasible within existing constraints.
