Project Description

According to the WB, The Program Development Objective is to support Government reforms to a) strengthen fiscal management, and b) foster a more productive and greener economy.

The development objective of Second Fiscal Policy and Sustainable Growth Development Policy Financing (DPF)The reform program supported by this DPF has been updated to reflect the GoP's evolving priorities within the framework of the established PDO with a Deferred Drawdown Option for Peru is to support Government reforms to a) strengthen fiscal management, and b) foster a more productive and greener economy. Despite the current political volatility, the GoP remains committed to reforms aimed at boosting sustainable growth and productivity while maintaining fiscal prudence. Moreover, the government's commitment to the OECD accession process is expected to provide a clear roadmap for ambitious structural reforms to boost sustainable growth and strengthen institution. The DPF advances development areas that are prioritized in the World Bank Group Country Partnership Framework (CPF) for Peru FY23-27. The reform program supported by this DPF has been updated to reflect the GoP's evolving priorities within the framework of the established PDO. The DPF is aligned with the goals of the Paris Agreement on both mitigation and adaptation. It is linked to the CPF pillar on increasing access to economic opportunities by improving the efficiency of investments in public infrastructure (PA3 and PA4), by strengthening the innovation ecosystem (PA5), by fostering access to finance and digital financial inclusion (PA6 and PA7), by promoting a sustainable use of natural capital (PA8). PA3 and PA4 also contribute to the second pillar on improving access to quality public services. Finally, it addresses challenges related to promoting increased resilience against the impacts of natural disasters and other shocks (PA8).
