Project Description

According to the World Bank, the Development Objective is to improve competitiveness and resilience of target poultry and aquaculture value chains in Congo. Competitiveness emphasizes reduced input costs and improved production efficiency by adopting the best practices and innovative technologies. Given market prices of fish and poultry products are fixed by cheap imports, an effective way to raise competitiveness of outputs within these value chains is by cost reduction – i.e., by increasing the cost-effectiveness and profitability of production. Resilience will address risks to climate shocks on poultry and aquaculture value chains by mainstreaming climate-smart agriculture (CSA) solutions and other measures along the value-chains to improve ability to address climate risks on poultry and aquaculture productivity and health.

The project will finance the following activities to realize its development objective:
