According to bank's website, the canceled project aims to improve the management and valorization of water resources, and strengthen transboundary water cooperation, livelihoods and climate resilience for West Africa. The participating countries and organizations are African Association of Universities, Burkina Faso, Mauritania, Niger Basin Authority - NBA, Senegal, West African Economic and Monetary Union (WAEMU).
