Early Warning System Project Analysis
For a project with severe or irreversible impacts to local community and natural resources, the Early Warning System Team may conduct a thorough analysis regarding its potential impacts to human and environmental rights.

Environmental Assessment Category: A-Full Assessment

The key potential environmental and social risks and impacts of the proposed AF include possible soil and water contamination, air pollution from dust and fumes, loss of vegetation, noise nuisance, vibration, traffic congestion due to the planned rehabilitation activities, odor, proliferation of disease-borne insect vectors, waste generation, loss of access to economic assets and livelihoods due to planned rehabilitation of Asafo Sewerage Treatment facility, Sexual Exploitation and Abuse/Sexual Harassment (SEA/SH) as well as GBV related issues.

Risks associated with water contamination given that Subin and Gee rivers are at proximity to the Asafo Sewerage Treatment facility could transverse communities and harm aquatic life if appropriate measures are not taken during construction work.

There are no potential indirect and/or long-term adverse environmental and social impacts expected in the project area.
