According to the Bank's website, the project objective is to is to assist the Government of Türkiye to improve the investment potential for offshore wind energy generation by derisking the sites and reinforcing institutional capacities.
This project has three components. 1) The first component, Offshore Wind Energy Site Development Studies, meteorological and oceanographic analysis and measurements; geological, geophysical, and geotechnical surveys at specific offshore sites to be selected by MENR will be conducted. 2) The second component, Environmental and Social Constraints Analysis, an environmental and social constraint analysis to inform the government and developers on the potential selection and auction of sites for future offshore wind development will be carried out. 3) The third component, Technical, Legislative, Economic Analyses and Capacity Building, studies and reports will be delivered.
According to the World Bank, the environmental and social risk for this project is "Substantial".
