Acoordin to the bank's website, "the objectives of this operation are to increase fiscal space for development spending and to improve the efficiency and fairness of the fiscal system". In addition, the project aims to "i) increase government revenue by broadening the tax base, increasing rates, increasing efficiency of the tax system and facilita ting tax compliance and ii) increase the efficiency and effectiveness of spending by strengthening the institutions for expenditure".
