According to the Bank, this project provides financing to the government of the Republic of Kosovo to ensure better management of domestic water resources. The funding will be used for investment preparation as well as the construction of water storage and distribution mechanisms.
All physical investments in water storage and distribution mechanisms will be in the Morava e Binces basin area.
The Bank identifies watershed protection, erosion control, protection of water quality from industrial and domestic effluents, degradation of ecosystem services and ensuring water security as the key environmental management challenges. Ensuring dam safety and environmental flows are also relevant.
