Project Description

According to the World Bank, the objective of this project is to increase the coverage, quality and efficiency of the water supply and sanitation services in selected low-income areas of Panama, and to support the modernization of Panama's national water and sanitation utility (IDAAN).

The project will include the following components:

  1. Improvement of the Water Supply and Sanitation (WSS) services in IDAAN's operation unit of Chilibre
  2. Improvement of the WSS services in IDAAN's operation unit of Colon
  3. IDAAN's institutional strengthening and modernization. 

This project builds off of the PA Metro Water and Sanitation Improvement Project which closed on 30 June 2017. The original disclosure can be found here

The International Bank for Reconstruction and Development arm of the World Bank will provide the financing for this project. The remaining US$35.00 million will be provided by the Government of Panama.
