Project Description
The objective of this project is to strengthen the capacity of targeted water resources management related institutions to plan, monitor and manage water resources at the national level and in selected river basins in Peru. Specific objectives include (a) the strengthening of the National Water Resources Information System, showing an increase in data volume, reliability and use. (b) Groundwater monitoring plans for selected aquifers established and operational. (c) Strengthening of economic tools to promote water use efficiency and reduce contamination.

The total project cost is US$88.15 million, US$40 million of which is financed by the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development. US$48.15 million is financed by the Government of Peru.
