According to bank's website, the Catalysing Integrated Trade and Industrial Policy Reform Project: Implementing the AfCFTA/AIDA Impact Assessments in Selected African Economies in Transition is a multinational technical-assistance and institutional-strengthening operation covering Cameroon, Chad, Comoros, Madagascar and Togo. The project is designed to help these countries translate the commitments of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) and the Accelerated Industrial Development of Africa (AIDA) into more coherent, inclusive and evidence-based national trade and industrial policies. The project will institutionalize and apply the AfCFTA/AIDA Standard Impact Assessment Guide within national policymaking systems. It will strengthen the technical and analytical capacity of public institutions, improve the availability and use of sector-specific and disaggregated data, and support national assessments of competitiveness, priority value chains and the socioeconomic, gender, youth, climate and fragility implications of AfCFTA and AIDA implementation. It will also enhance the assessment methodology by integrating green industrialization, climate-resilient trade infrastructure, MSME participation, informal trade and conflict-sensitive planning. The project comprises three main components: (i) capacity development and technical support for national assessments, (ii) evidence generation and strengthening of the impact-assessment methodology, and (iii) knowledge sharing, advocacy and partnership development. Key activities include training policymakers and technical experts, conducting country and sector assessments, strengthening monitoring and evaluation systems, updating the web-based Impact Assessment Platform, producing policy briefs and country reports, and facilitating national, regional and continental peer-learning and policy dialogue. The total project cost is estimated at UA 2.794 million, equivalent to approximately USD 3.83 million. It will be financed by an ADF-16 Regional Public Goods grant of UA 2.54 million, equivalent to about USD 3.48 million, and an in-kind contribution from AUDA-NEPAD of UA 0.254 million, equivalent to approximately USD 0.35 million. The AUDA-NEPAD contribution will cover technical expertise, office space, utilities and operational support to the project implementation unit. The project also builds on earlier support from JICA and complementary engagement with the WTO, UNDP and UNIDO, but it is not structured as a formal co-financing operation. The grant recipient and executing agency is the African Union Development Agency–NEPAD.
