Project Description
If provided by the financial institution, the Early Warning System Team writes a short summary describing the purported development objective of the project and project components. Review the complete project documentation for a detailed description.

According to the Bank’s website, the Government of the United Republic of Tanzania (GoT) through the Ministry of Water in collaboration with AfDB through ADF facility is implementing the Dodoma Resilient and Sustainable Water Development and Sanitation Program (DRSWDSP). The program is to be implemented in three (3) Phases and is estimated to cost UA 566.6 million. The three (3) phases are as follows: Phase I-Dam construction, Access Road and Water Treatment Construction and Catchment Management and Protection (UA 95.5 million); Phase II - Conveyance Systems and Catchment Protection (UA 233.1 million) and Phase III - Water Supply and Sanitation Services and Catchment Protection (UA 238 million).

The purpose of the Middle-Income Country Technical Assistance Funds will be to specifically (i) facilitate the preparation of studies of the DRSWDSP phase II activities, (ii) strengthen institutional capacity of Ministries and Public Institutions and Statutory Corporations (PISC) on the project preparation, appraisal and review/assessment for prudent and efficient utilization of the public resources and, (iii) facilitate project management, monitoring, evaluation and reporting. Expected outputs of the MIC-TAF are included in the Result Based Logical Framework (RBLF).

The overall program interventions will improve access to potable water supply and improved sanitation services by 2051 to 2.1 million and 1.5 million people of the Dodoma city and three district towns (52% women) respectively. Additional financing will contribute to this population because it will facilitate the preparation of the DRSWDSP Phase II by carrying out studies for 54 villages surrounding the main water pipelines, training 60 ministries staff on project/program preparation and management, review, and evaluation, promoting transparency and accountability in public spending and enhancing competencies for quality and timely preparation of the program documents.

Contact Information
This section aims to support the local communities and local CSO to get to know which stakeholders are involved in a project with their roles and responsibilities. If available, there may be a complaint office for the respective bank which operates independently to receive and determine violations in policy and practice. Independent Accountability Mechanisms receive and respond to complaints. Most Independent Accountability Mechanisms offer two functions for addressing complaints: dispute resolution and compliance review.
