Project Description
If provided by the financial institution, the Early Warning System Team writes a short summary describing the purported development objective of the project and project components. Review the complete project documentation for a detailed description.

According to the Bank’s website, the project Development Objective is to improve access to urban sanitation services in Juba. The project aims to: i) develop an urban sanitation system in Juba; and ii) strengthen the capacity of sanitation sector institutions.

The project area is Juba city in South Sudan and will benefit about 80% of the households (about 361,000 people) residing within the targeted Blocks (Payams)of Juba, Kator and Munuki, where the population density is highest, with improved access to sanitation services. The three Payams of Juba cover an area of 50km2. The proposed improvements in sanitation, and the hygiene and sanitation education, will provide direct benefits to the residents, notably women who bear the brunt of poor health in households. In addition, some 10 sanitation facilities will be provided in selected secondary schools. The project will also provide organic fertilisers for farm use to at least 80 farmers.

Contact Information
This section aims to support the local communities and local CSO to get to know which stakeholders are involved in a project with their roles and responsibilities. If available, there may be a complaint office for the respective bank which operates independently to receive and determine violations in policy and practice. Independent Accountability Mechanisms receive and respond to complaints. Most Independent Accountability Mechanisms offer two functions for addressing complaints: dispute resolution and compliance review.
