Project Description
If provided by the financial institution, the Early Warning System Team writes a short summary describing the purported development objective of the project and project components. Review the complete project documentation for a detailed description.

According to the Bank’s website, the city of Kigali faces urban mobility challenges, and the Kigali Transport Master Plan 2050 identifies potential solutions. The Kigali Urban Transport Improvement Project (KUTI) is being developed to address these challenges, focusing on upgrading junctions to improve traffic flow and make the city more inclusive for all modes of transport, particularly non-motorized transport. The project aims to improve road infrastructure to facilitate market access and traffic flow.

The development objective of the project is to improve the efficiency, inclusivity and safety of road transport mobility in the City of Kigali. The specific objective is to address the mobility constraints at three (3) critical junctions identified in the City of Kigali This is expected to result into the improvement of the Level of Service (LoS) of the junctions, reduction of vehicle operation cost, travel time and GHG emission, and to promote sustainable transportation in Kigali to ensure clean energy usage in urban transport.
