According to the Bank’s website, the objective of the project is to strengthen the resilience of populations and contribute to regenerating river ecosystems in a context of climate change. The specific objectives of the Project are: (i) to regulate the regime of the Niger River and guarantee good ecological status, particularly in the wetlands downstream of the dam; (ii) to develop irrigated agriculture in Guinea and Mali; (iii) develop fishing and fish farming; (iv) develop navigation and ecotourism; and (v) generate electricity.
