According to the Bank’s website, the project is based on the Ethiopian government's new National WASH Implementation Framework (WIF), which aims to contribute to the government's efforts to improve access to sustainable and climate-resilient water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) services and support the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) for water and sanitation in urban and rural areas for Ethiopia by 2030.
The project development objective is to increase access to sustainable drinking water, sanitation and hygiene services and to prepare water supply and sanitation investment projects in selected urban cities and rural settlements in Ethiopia. This will address the acute water scarcity and inadequate sanitation services, and contribute to climate resilience and WASH services in the project areas.
