According to the Bank’s website, the project will catalyze an alliance that will generate a pipeline of startups and an ecosystem of support for innovative solutions that can provide the water, sanitation and solid waste sector through the development and implementation of the Innovation Facility for water, sanitation and waste. The Facility will be a physical and virtual platform for the promotion of innovation in water, sanitation and solid waste in Latin America and the Caribbean, located in DistritoTec in Monterrey, Mexico, and supported mainly by the Tecnologico de Monterrey, the FEMSA Foundation and the Inter-American Development Bank Group. Its objectives are to build synergies between actors in the innovation system and attract resources to address challenges related to water, sanitation and solid waste management. This will generate an ecosystem to provide new technological and business solutions to the sector, establishing connections for a vibrant and innovative ecosystem. The direct beneficiaries of the Facility will be innovative ventures that are looking to test their solutions or that already have a developed solution and are looking for commercial growth.

ACCOUNTABILITY MECHANISM OF IADB
The Independent Consultation and Investigation Mechanism (MICI) is the independent complaint mechanism and fact-finding body for people who have been or are likely to be adversely affected by an Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) or Inter-American Investment Corporation (IIC)-funded project. If you submit a complaint to MICI, they may assist you in addressing the problems you raised through a dispute-resolution process with those implementing the project and/or through an investigation to assess whether the IDB or IIC is following its own policies for preventing or mitigating harm to people or the environment. You can submit a complaint by sending an email to MICI@iadb.org. You can learn more about the MICI and how to file a complaint at http://www.iadb.org/en/mici/mici,1752.html (in English) or http://www.iadb.org/es/mici/mici,1752.html (Spanish).
