Project Description

As stated by the NDB, the Project being part of the Provincial Cold Chain Logistics Backbone Network, aims to bridge the infrastructure gap in Jiangxi Province by enhancing the capacity for transporting and storing agricultural products on a large scale. The Project includes: (i) establishment of cold chain logistics parks at seven strategic locations in Jiangxi; (ii) development of smart cold chain management systems; and (iii) capacity building activities with a focus on research related to innovative cold chain technologies. 

The Project aims to support the province’s initiative in establishing a modern cold chain logistics network that will contribute to minimizing food losses during the transportation process and fostering the growth of the agricultural sector. Furthermore, by implementing advanced logistics management practices and innovative cold chain technologies, the Project has the potential to serve as a model project for establishing industry benchmarks in cold chain logistics in China and other NDB member countries.

The New Development Bank (NDB) does not currently have an independent accountability mechanism to accept complaints related to NDB-financed projects. The Bank does have a whistleblower mechanism that receives complaints about misconduct related to corruption, fraudulent practices and instances of money laundering in projects financed by the NDB and/or against the NDB staff members.
