Project Description
FROM IADB: This project aims to enhance the efficiency of the Office of the Public Prosecutor (MP) in order to help reduce impunity in Guatemala. This objective will be achieved by: (i) boosting efficiency in the processing of complaints and cases; (ii) increasing the quality of motions for indictment submitted to judges; and (iii) reducing internal response times and speeding assistance to the public. In accordance with the IADB's policies, the program is classified as a category “B” operation: The potential adverse socio-environmental impacts stem from the construction of buildings for public use and are not significant: they will be addressed with mitigation and control measures that are widely known in the country and can be readily implemented, relating to workplace safety and risks during the construction phase. None of the works planned under the program will require resettlement.
Investment Description
The total cost of the project amounts to US$60 million, and it will be financed with a specific investment loan using resources from the IADB's Ordinary Capital. The loan’s disbursement period will be five years.
