According to the IADB, the overall objective of this project is to develop new commercial food products, increase sales, and enhance farmer capacity in order to boost purchases of macambo, cassava, and other products from farmers.
As stated on the company's website, Canopy Bridge was started by Marta Echavarría and Jacob Olander. Over more than three decades they have worked together to create new ways to create tangible value for the people conserving biodiversity, including Indigenous and local communities, non-profit organizations, governments and sustainable businesses.
After early careers working with environmental NGOs and with agribusiness, they founded EcoDecisión, Canopy Bridge's parent entity, in 1995. For over 25 years EcoDecisión has been a pioneer in building financial mechanisms for conservation in Latin America. Among many firsts they were instrumental in setting up Latin America's first payment for watershed services fund, developing some of the earliest forest carbon offset projects and methodologies (including the world's first Indigenous REDD+ project), and establishing the first private conservation easement in Ecuador.

ACCOUNTABILITY MECHANISM OF IADB
The Independent Consultation and Investigation Mechanism (MICI) is the independent complaint mechanism and fact-finding body for people who have been or are likely to be adversely affected by an Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) or Inter-American Investment Corporation (IIC)-funded project. If you submit a complaint to MICI, they may assist you in addressing the problems you raised through a dispute-resolution process with those implementing the project and/or through an investigation to assess whether the IDB or IIC is following its own policies for preventing or mitigating harm to people or the environment. You can submit a complaint by sending an email to MICI@iadb.org. You can learn more about the MICI and how to file a complaint at http://www.iadb.org/en/mici/mici,1752.html (in English) or http://www.iadb.org/es/mici/mici,1752.html (Spanish).
