Project Description
If provided by the financial institution, the Early Warning System Team writes a short summary describing the purported development objective of the project and project components. Review the complete project documentation for a detailed description.

According to the IADB, the general objective of the program is to ensure, over the long term, that demand in the National Interconnected Electricity System (SENI) is met by strengthening the reliability and efficiency of the transmission and distribution systems, as well as the financial sustainability of the targeted subsidy. The specific objectives are: (i) to expand the transmission system's capacity to enable the connection of new renewable energy projects through private investment; (ii) to increase the capacity of the distribution infrastructure to meet demand and reduce losses, improving the utility's management to achieve greater efficiency; and (iii) to ensure that vulnerable households continue to access energy services at affordable rates

The Independent Consultation and Investigation Mechanism (MICI) is the independent complaint mechanism and fact-finding body for people who have been or are likely to be adversely affected by an Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) or Inter-American Investment Corporation (IIC)-funded project. If you submit a complaint to MICI, they may assist you in addressing the problems you raised through a dispute-resolution process with those implementing the project and/or through an investigation to assess whether the IDB or IIC is following its own policies for preventing or mitigating harm to people or the environment.
