Project Description

According to the IADB, the objective of this IGR is to support Costa Rica in fulfilling its commitments to Sustainable Development Goal 6, through strategic pilot projects in water and sanitation in vulnerable areas. Through these pilots, the aim is to generate models, evidence, and conditions to strengthen access to and quality of services in vulnerable regions.

Financial Intermediary
A financial intermediary is a bank or financial institution that receives funds from a development bank. A financial intermediary then lends these funds to their clients (private actors) in the form of loans, bonds, guarantees and equity shares. Financial intermediaries include insurance, pension and equity funds. The direct financial relationship is between the development bank and the financial intermediary.
Private Actors Description
A Private Actor is a non-governmental body or entity that is the borrower or client of a development project, which can include corporations, private equity and banks. This describes the private actors and their roles in relation to the project, when private actor information is disclosed or has been further researched.

De acuerdo con el BID, la Fundación CRUSA es una organización privada costarricense, independiente y sin fines de lucro, que desde 1996 contribuye a la mejora en la calidad de la vida de las personas y el desarrollo sostenible de Costa Rica. Cuenta con patrimonio y personalidad propios, así como capacidad jurídica plena para ejecutar todo tipo de actos y contratos necesarios para cumplir su misión. Anualmente, la Fundación invierte alrededor de 4 millones de dólares de recursos propios en proyectos estratégicos. Además, desde el año 2010 ha ejecutado diversos proyectos financiados por el Banco Interamericano de Desarrollo (BID), con un promedio de US$680 mil por proyecto, alcanzando un monto total de US$3.42 millones

The Independent Consultation and Investigation Mechanism (MICI) is the independent complaint mechanism and fact-finding body for people who have been or are likely to be adversely affected by an Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) or Inter-American Investment Corporation (IIC)-funded project. If you submit a complaint to MICI, they may assist you in addressing the problems you raised through a dispute-resolution process with those implementing the project and/or through an investigation to assess whether the IDB or IIC is following its own policies for preventing or mitigating harm to people or the environment.
