Project Description

According to the IADB, the project aims to strengthen policies that seek to promote gender and race equality in Brazil. The specific objectives are: I) support public policies that promote the economic autonomy of women and Afro-descendants; II) strengthen regulatory frameworks and mechanisms to ensure a life free from violence and discrimination for women and Afro-descendants; and III) support policy measures of the Federal Government that seek to expand and strengthen institutional capacity and coordination with subnational governments to promote gender and race equality.

The Independent Consultation and Investigation Mechanism (MICI) is the independent complaint mechanism and fact-finding body for people who have been or are likely to be adversely affected by an Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) or Inter-American Investment Corporation (IDB Invest)-funded project.
