The objective of the project is to contribute to improve the quality of life of the resident population in the basins of the Igarapés Ilha de Coco, Guanabara and Chácara das Estrelas, through the implementation of sustainable infrastructure works of urban planning, macro and micro drainage, water supply and sanitary sewerage. The specific objectives are: (i) reduce the risk of flooding in the Igarapés selected for the interventions; (ii) increase sewerage and wastewater treatment coverage; (iii) improve the conditions of the water supply service; (iv) improve the management capacity of the MP and SAAEP; and (v) promote the insertion of low-income women benefited by the project to the labor market
ACCOUNTABILITY MECHANISM OF IADB
The Independent Consultation and Investigation Mechanism (MICI) is the independent complaint mechanism and fact-finding body for people who have been or are likely to be adversely affected by an Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) or Inter-American Investment Corporation (IIC)-funded project. If you submit a complaint to MICI, they may assist you in addressing the problems you raised through a dispute-resolution process with those implementing the project and/or through an investigation to assess whether the IDB or IIC is following its own policies for preventing or mitigating harm to people or the environment.
