Project Description

According to the IADB, the objective is to drive change in the tourism sector by creating an enabling policy and regulatory environment - supported by financial mechanisms and products - that supports and incentivizes governments, private sector and local communities to introduce and benefit from sustainable tourism practices, drives the development of local sustainable supply chains linked to the tourism sector and makes it convenient and seamless for tourists to make sustainable choices without having to compromise on quality, costs and comfort.

The Independent Consultation and Investigation Mechanism (MICI) is the independent complaint mechanism and fact-finding body for people who have been or are likely to be adversely affected by an Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) or Inter-American Investment Corporation (IIC)-funded project. If you submit a complaint to MICI, they may assist you in addressing the problems you raised through a dispute-resolution process with those implementing the project and/or through an investigation to assess whether the IDB or IIC is following its own policies for preventing or mitigating harm to people or the environment.
