Project Description
If provided by the financial institution, the Early Warning System Team writes a short summary describing the purported development objective of the project and project components. Review the complete project documentation for a detailed description.

As stated by the NDB, the Project will include (i) replacement of the existing distribution lines with higher diameter pipes, as well as construction of new pipelines; and (ii) building new and enhancing the capacity of the existing gas stations in the Project area.

The Project aims to improve gas supply from 809 to 1,587 million cubic feet per day, reduce operational failure incidences, and decrease CO2 emissions by: i) replacing existing gas pipelines along the Joydebpur-Mymensingh and Dhaka-Tangail highways according to the needs of current and future customers, including safety and proper maintenance aspects; and ii) constructing new gas pipelines to increase gas supply capacity and reduce insufficient pressure situations in Tangail, Manikganj, Saturia, Aricha, Dhamrai, Savar, and adjoining industrial areas.
These areas are important for the country because of a high concentration of industrial centers that drive Bangladesh’s economic growth.

The Project will also include implementation of digital solutions to improve project management and capacity building activities.

The implementing agencies will be Titas Gas Transmission and Distribution Public Limited Company and the Bangladesh Oil, Gas & Mineral Corporation.
