According to the Bank’s website, Jungle Ventures V, L.P. (“Jungle Fund V” or “the Fund”) is targeted to be a US$500 million venture capital (“VC”) fund focused on Southeast Asia and India. The Fund aims to invest in high-growth companies in the consumer, business-to-business (“B2B”), and software sectors.
The proposed project has been categorized as FI-2 in accordance with IFC's Sustainability Policy. The project is an equity investment in Jungle Ventures V, L.P., a venture capital fund focused on Southeast and India. The fund aims to invest primarily in the internet-driven consumer, fintech, B2B, health-tech, and SME digitization sectors. The fund has not made any portfolio investment yet. Its current prospective pipelines include companies involved in consumer goods supply, B2B internet platforms, consumer financing, and healthcare activities. These risks and impacts, which are medium and can be managed through proper mitigation measures consistent with the IFC’s Performance Standards (PSs) and World Bank Group Environmental, Health and Safety Guidelines , are expected to be site-specific and may typically include issues related to labor and working conditions, occupational health and safety, pollution, waste and wastewater management, as well as the risks of gender-based violence, particularly in the case of healthcare facilities.
IFC proposes an equity investment of up to US$30 million in the Fund, not to exceed 20% of the Fund’s total capital commitments. In addition, a US$20 million co-investment envelope is proposed to invest alongside the Fund.
