According to the IDBI, the project aims to expand the Yacyreta hydropower by increasing renewable generation capacity and optimizing existing water flows to strengthen energy supply in Argentina and Paraguay, while avoiding the need for a new reservoir. Its scope includes the construction of a new plant at the Ana Cua branch with 270 MW of installed capacity, along with associated civil works, transmission infrastructure, substations, interconnection systems, and environmental and social management measures.

ACCOUNTABILITY MECHANISM OF IDB / IDB INVEST
The Independent Consultation and Investigation Mechanism (MICI) is the independent complaint mechanism and fact-finding body for people who have been or are likely to be adversely affected by an Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) or Inter-American Investment Corporation (IDB Invest)-funded project.
