According to the IADB, the overall objective of the Technical Cooperation is to strengthen the Institute of National Acueducts and Sewers (IDAAN)'s institutional capacity to effectively carry out the technical and financial planning of its investments, as well as the proper operation and maintenance of water and sanitation infrastructure in Panama, in order to ensure the sustainability of the investments financed under operations PN-U0001/PN-O0016. The specific objectives are to: (i) strengthen IDAAN's project planning and management capacities to ensure the technical sustainability of water and sanitation infrastructure; and (ii) support IDAAN in reinforcing its governance framework by strengthening financial planning and cost recovery through tariffs, thereby helping to ensure its long-term sustainability.

ACCOUNTABILITY MECHANISM OF IADB
The Independent Consultation and Investigation Mechanism (MICI) is the independent complaint mechanism and fact-finding body for people who have been or are likely to be adversely affected by an Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) or Inter-American Investment Corporation (IIC)-funded project. If you submit a complaint to MICI, they may assist you in addressing the problems you raised through a dispute-resolution process with those implementing the project and/or through an investigation to assess whether the IDB or IIC is following its own policies for preventing or mitigating harm to people or the environment.
