The purpose of this Technical Cooperation (TC) is to support the Government of Ecuador through the Ministry of Energy and Non-Renewable Natural Resources (MERNNR), to advance in the fulfillment of the objectives set forth in the energy transition strategies. In particular, those conducted by the electricity sector, to reduce the use of fossil fuels, both in production processes, transport activities and domestic uses; and to increase, instead, the use of energy from renewable sources with greenhouse gases emission-free. The specific scopes foreseen with this TC will allow; (i) Advance in the foreseen challenges in terms of energy sustainability; through efficient generation, renewable energy, digitization of operating processes; (ii) Promote energy security through national and regional energy integration; (iii) Support energy governance; through institutional strengthening; (iv) Advance in the fulfillment of objectives established in the national initiatives of Energy Efficiency and; (v) Support the execution of the Gender Action Plan for the Electricity Sector.
ACCOUNTABILITY MECHANISM OF IADB
The Independent Consultation and Investigation Mechanism (MICI) is the independent complaint mechanism and fact-finding body for people who have been or are likely to be adversely affected by an Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) or Inter-American Investment Corporation (IIC)-funded project. If you submit a complaint to MICI, they may assist you in addressing the problems you raised through a dispute-resolution process with those implementing the project and/or through an investigation to assess whether the IDB or IIC is following its own policies for preventing or mitigating harm to people or the environment.
