Project Description
If provided by the financial institution, the Early Warning System Team writes a short summary describing the purported development objective of the project and project components. Review the complete project documentation for a detailed description.

This program finances a 10MW solar photovoltaic (PV) power plant, which will be the second large-scale solar PV in the country, in Sumber soum of Govisumber province (southern Mongolia). As part of Mongolia’s Intended Nationally Determined Contributions (INDC), the country aims to supply 20% of the country’s energy through renewable energy by 2020, and 30% by 2030. Though Mongolia’s historical contribution to the current level of GHG emissions is small, the annual per capita emission of GHG of 14.5 tons of CO2 (as of 2013) per Mongolian is relatively high compared to other countries, and is almost three times the world average (4.996 tons per capita as of 2013).
