According to the FMO, the funding by FMO of USD 32mln is a B-loan with EBRD in the lead and aims to finance capital expenditures of A101 to open new stores and regional distribution centers and improve energy efficiency of new and existing stores by using, among others, new refrigerating and lighting systems.
The project helps A101, an important player in the local food value chain, to promote cheaper and more accessible food and further improve health and safety standards. The project is labeled Green and Reducing Inequalities.
The transaction involves opening new stores and warehouses, and refurbishment projects incorporating resource and energy-efficient technologies such as LED lighting and high-efficiency refrigeration systems.
As stated by the FMO, Yeni Magazacilik A.S. owns and operates a network of discounter-format grocery stores under the A101 brand. Consisting of over 13,000 stores and 60 regional distribution centers (DCs), A101 provides affordable food to consumers nationwide in Turkiye.

ACCOUNTABILITY MECHANISM OF FMO
Communities who believe they will be negatively affected by a project funded by the Dutch Development Bank (FMO) may be able to file a complaint with the Independent Complaints Mechanism, which is the joint independent accountability mechanism of the Dutch Development Bank (FMO) and the German Investment Corporation (KfW). A complaint can be filed in writing, by email, post, or online. The complaint can be filed in English or any other language of the complainant. The Independent Complaints Mechanism is comprised of a three-member Independent Expert Panel and it can provide either problem-solving, compliance review or both, in either order.
