As stated by the EBRD, the proposed transaction entails a seven-year loan (with a grace period of two years) of EUR 25m to Besler Gida ve Kimya Sanayi ve Ticaret A.S., a leading company in frozen food and edible oil sectors.
The Bank's loan will finance the investment programme of Besler including a new pizza production line, a warehouse for packaging storage and a new puff pastry production line.
As stated by the EBRD, Besler Gida ve Kimya Sanayi ve Ticaret A.S. is a food processing company located in Istanbul, Turkiye with production facilities in Bursa, Afyon, Adana and Istanbul. Besler's activities include sale and distribution of various processed foods, such as frozen vegetables, fruit,edible oil, as well as baked goods, including pizza and pastries.

ACCOUNTABILITY MECHANISM OF EBRD
The Project Complaint Mechanism (PCM) is the independent complaint mechanism and fact-finding body for people who have been or are likely to be adversely affected by an European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD)-financed project. If you submit a complaint to the PCM, it may assess compliance with EBRD's own policies and procedures to prevent harm to the environment or communities or it may assist you in resolving the problem that led to the complaint through a dialogue with those implementing the project. Additionally, the PCM has the authority to recommend a project be suspended in the event that harm is imminent.
