According to the information provided on the project disclosure page, the EBRD is considering providing finance to support development of the Aqaba Amman Water Desalination and Conveyance Project (AAWDCP)
1. The ESIA (including annexes) prepared for the AAWDCP with the assistance of EIB in 2022, and updated in January 2025.
2. The ESIA (including annexes) prepared for the AAWDCP Renewable Energy Facilities in 2025 with the assistance of EIB.
3. AAWDC Project Environmental and Social Impact Assessment Update: Assessment of New Desalination Plant Site prepared by Meridiam on 26 May 2025
The above ESIA documents were developed at an early stage of project design. These documents are published to provide early information as part of the project ESIA process, which is ongoing. Further project design work is in progress and is informing an updated ESIA currently underway by the AAWDCP Sponsors and their advisors. Once the updated ESIA is complete, it will be disclosed and consulted on in line with EBRD's Access to Information Policy and E&S Policy (2024).
As stated by the IFC, the Project is being developed by the National Carrier Project Company, an SPV established by Meridiam (90%) and Suez (10%) for the purpose of undertaking the project.

ACCOUNTABILITY MECHANISM OF EBRD
The Project Complaint Mechanism (PCM) is the independent complaint mechanism and fact-finding body for people who have been or are likely to be adversely affected by an European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD)-financed project. If you submit a complaint to the PCM, it may assess compliance with EBRD's own policies and procedures to prevent harm to the environment or communities or it may assist you in resolving the problem that led to the complaint through a dialogue with those implementing the project. Additionally, the PCM has the authority to recommend a project be suspended in the event that harm is imminent.
You can contact the PCM at: pcm@ebrd.com or you can submit a complaint online using an online form at: http://www.ebrd.com/eform/pcm/complaint_form?language=en
You can learn more about the PCM and how to file a complaint at: http://www.ebrd.com/work-with-us/project-finance/project-complaint-mechanism.html
