Project Description

According to the CDB, the project will set up a safe, reliable and climate-resilient supply of potable water to residents and businesses on southern Ambergris Caye with gender-inclusive human resource management and improved communications of the Belize Water Services. More specifically, to enhance capacities of Belize Water Services to improve internal and external communication, public education, social outreach and stakeholder engagement, and to develop a Gender Policy and Operational Strategy (GPOS) for Human Resource Management in Belize Water Services by executing an institutional analysis of current human resource practices with regard to adherence to gender equality; conduct a gender sensitisation workshop with BWS staff; develop a GPOS; and carry out Training of Trainers.

As stated on the company's website, Belize Water Services Limited is the national water and sewerage utility that was vested with the Assets and Liabilities of the Water and Sewerage Authority in March 2001. The company has issued share capital of forty million (40,000,000) shares with the Government of Belize, the majority shareholder, owning approximately 83% of the total shares; the Social Security Board holds 10% and the remaining 7% is held by some 1,400 minority shareholders. 

As stated on the firm's website, Shidaa Consulting is a project management and sustainable development consultancy based in the Caribbean.
