Project Description

According to the Bank’s website, the Project seeks to advance private capital mobilization through anchoring the infrastructure asset-backed securities (IABS) issued by Bayfront Infrastructure Management (BIM) over the next 3 years and to help BIM achieve its interim climate transition goals as part of its 2050 Net Zero Ambition.

The Project will mobilize private capital into emerging market infrastructure through supporting the continued development of the IABS market in Asia with a focus on sustainable assets. This will be achieved through an investment of up to USD350 million into issuances of Sustainability Tranches of IABS sponsored by the BIM. The Investment Program covers issuances of IABS Sustainability Tranches by BIM until end 2026.

According to research by civil society organizations, the BIM's portfolio includes major investments in oil and gas infrastructure.

Established in 2019, Bayfront Infrastructure Management Pte. Ltd. (BIM) is the first platform dedicated to the purchase, securitization, and distribution of infrastructure loans in Asia. ACCOUNTABILITY MECHANISM OF AIIB

The AIIB has established the Accountability Mechanism for Project-Affected People (PPM). The PPM provides Òan opportunity for an independent and impartial review of submissions from Project-affected people who believe they have been or are likely to be adversely affected by AIIBÕs failure to implement the ESP in situations when their concerns cannot be addressed satisfactorily through Project level GRMs or AIIB Management processes.Ó Two or more project-affected people can file a complaint. Under the current AIIB policy, when the bank co-finances a project with another development bank, it may apply the other bank's standards.
