According to the Bank’s website, Baku Metro Digitalization Project will support the digitalization of Baku Metro's operational systems, with a focus on train traffic management and passenger travel information. The outcomes will include improved operational and financial performance of Baku Metro. The project will lay the foundation for public transport-centered mobility in Baku, addressing severe congestion driven by population growth and rising private car use.

Baku Metro Closed Joint-Stock Company (Baku Metro CJSC) is the state-owned entity responsible for operating and constructing the metro system in Baku, Azerbaijan. Established in 2014 by presidential decree, it combined former metro operations and construction entities (Azertunelmetrotikinti) to manage the city's subway network.
