Project Description
If provided by the financial institution, the Early Warning System Team writes a short summary describing the purported development objective of the project and project components. Review the complete project documentation for a detailed description.

According to the Bank’s website, the proposed project will strengthen governance and planning capacity and establish solid waste management services and improved sanitation in Honiara. The project will therein address national poverty eradication goals through (i) supporting the ongoing growth of the city through better management of waste leading to a more productive workforce, and a larger pool of workers able to support the capital’s economy; (ii) supporting the development of capacity in HCC to deliver municipal services through regulatory reform, improved financial capacity, and improved technical capability; and (iii) ensuring that publicly delivered services are provided equitably to all residents of Honiara.
