PROJECT RATIONALE AND LINKAGE TO COUNTRY/REGIONAL STRATEGY
The Government of Turkmenistan has invited the Asian Development Bank (ADB) to support the health sector in the context of the Government's commitment to achieve Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by 2030. After a fast but less inclusive socioeconomic development, the country is facing an economic slowdown with fiscal constraints with likely impact on poverty and social development. This is aggravated by the recent COVID-19 Pandemic causing further economic hardships, including loss of employment and remittances from abroad.
