According to the Bank’s website, the Asian Development Bank (ADB) approved on 3 December 2020 a grant not exceeding $45,000,000 to the Kingdom of Tonga from ADB Special Funds resources (Asian Development Fund) for the Nukualofa Port Upgrade Project (the ongoing project). The project became effective on January 2021 and the grant closing date is December 2026. The project will upgrade cargo wharves located in the Queen Salote International Wharf (QSIW) of Nukualofa Port, strengthen management and operations and improve the port capacity.
