This project provides financing to rehabilitate 34 kilometers of the Bishkeky bypass road, linking the Central Asia Regional Economic Cooperation (CAREC) Corridor 1 (Bishkek-Torugart Road) with CAREC Corridor 3 (Bishkek-Osh) Road. Components will include rehabilitating the road, developing an environmental buffer zone, implementing road safety institutional reforms, and improving local residents' car repair skills.
This project involves involuntary resettlement and will involve major land acquisition, causing physical and economic displacement of people, and affecting more than 50 privately owned structures and agricultural land plots.
