Project Description

According to the Bank’s website, the technical assistance (TA) will support the Government of Viet Nam in green financing for agrochemical reduction and management in the agri-food value chains in five selected provinces in Viet Nam through (i) strengthening policy and regulatory coherence and capacity to manage and finance agrochemical reduction; (ii) enabling and catalyzing finance and investments for improved agrochemical reduction and agricultural plastics management; and (iii) enhancing agricultural management, monitoring systems, capacity and knowledge in agrochemicals management and natural capital accounting and assessment.

The TA outputs are (i) Output 1: Policy and regulatory coherence and capacity to manage and finance agrochemicals reduction strengthened; (ii) Output 2: Agrochemical reduction and agricultural plastics management improved through enabling and catalyzing finance and investments; and (iii) Output 3: Agricultural management and monitoring system and capacity and knowledge in agrochemical management and natural capital accounting and assessment enhanced.

The TA financing amount is $7,500,000 which will be financed on a grant basis by the Global Environment Facility (GEF); and partially administered by ADB.

The government will provide counterpart support to complement the TA activities. The support will include a cash contribution equivalent to $550,000 and in-kind contribution equivalent to $150,000, which will include counterpart staff, office facilities and meeting rooms, provision of available government data sets and reports for the TA consultants’ use, and access to forums and/or networks, and other contributions.
