This project finances the modernization of three existing hydropower plants, the construction of three new run-of-river small-sized hydropower plants, and provide capacity development for min/micro hydropower plant development.
The six sub-project hydropower plants are selected based on their age, technical and economic viability, and prioritization in the national investment program.
This project is a grant to help in the implementation of the actual project itself.
The makeup of the grant is:
US$0.5 million from the Technical Assistance Special Fund
US$2 million from the Asian Clean Energy Fund under the Clean Energy Financing Partnership Facility

The Accountability Mechanism is an independent complaint mechanism and fact-finding body for people who believe they are likely to be, or have been, adversely affected by an Asian Development Bank-financed project.
