As stated by the ADB, the project supports the government in constructing the new 102-kilometer Dohazari-Cox's Bazar section of the Chattogram-Cox's Bazar railway corridor in Southeastern Bangladesh. The multitranche financing facility uses the time-slice financing approach for the large-scale project comprising civil works, equipment, goods, and consulting services. The project was fully appraised at the due diligence for the MFF appraisal. Under the first tranche, all procurement were completed and subsequent tranches continue to finance part of the project. Consulting services that were recruited at the beginning are to be financed only with the COL loan of Tranche 1. The attached technical assistance approved along with tranche 1 strengthens the capacity of Bangladesh Railway, the executing agency, on project implementation management, including safeguards management.
The ADB categorized the project as follows:

ACCOUNTABILITY MECHANISM OF ADB
The Accountability Mechanism is an independent complaint mechanism and fact-finding body for people who believe they are likely to be, or have been, adversely affected by an Asian Development Bank-financed project. If you submit a complaint to the Accountability Mechanism, they may investigate to assess whether the Asian Development Bank is following its own policies and procedures for preventing harm to people or the environment. You can learn more about the Accountability Mechanism and how to file a complaint at: http://www.adb.org/site/accountability-mechanism/main.
