According to bank-provided information, the funding objective of the venture studio study is to generate evidence-based insights into the venture studio landscape in Sub-Saharan Africa, with a focus on early-stage support models that address the "valley of death" in startup financing. The study is designed to inform FMO's market creation strategy by mapping studio models, identifying structural gaps, and recommending catalytic interventions.
The expected outcomes include:
* Expansion of the investor pipeline through studio-supported startups.
* Improved enabling environment for early-stage ventures.
* Strategic knowledge outputs that inform Learning Convening & Influencing design and delivery.
* Behavior change among funders, policymakers, and ecosystem actors--such as restructuring portfolios, creating enabling regulations, and adopting collaborative models.
