Project Description

According to the Bank’s website, the Government of Iraq aims to engage the private sector to design, rehabilitate, finance, operate maintain, and potentially expand the Baghdad International Airport on a PPP basis. IFC will act as Lead Transaction Advisor to the Government of Iraq, assisting in structuring and implementing a competitive international tender for this Project.

The Baghdad Airport PPP Project is expected to mobilize private resources to potentially expand and/or upgrade Baghdad International Airport to improve air transport infrastructure quality and air transport flow, improve user experience (better services and reliability), lower airport operating costs, improve airport safety, helping facilitate trade and local economic development.
