As stated by the IFC, the objective of this project is to solve for critical power scarcity in Yemen through early support of the local sponsor in developing a bankable project finance renewable energy transaction. The Project will be the first IPP in Yemen, and the first private sector participation in power on a PPP basis. It is expected that the project will contribute to facilitate investments in the renewable energy space in Yemen.
IFC is partnering with Al Sadi Malta Ltd to review the development of Solar Photovoltaic power plants in Yemen. the plants will allow for the production of renewable energy observing international best practice with regards to environmental, social, and governance standards. This first engagement serves to assess the market conditions, technical requirements, and regulatory context including power purchase agreements which would impact the project.
