According to the Bank’s website, the objective of the project is to improve Tanzania’s SME Agency, SIDO (Small Industries Development Organization) to help support and grow the SME sector. There are two streams of activities to support the development of SIDO. The first is to improve its operational efficiency to ensure that SIDO is spending its resources on programs and activities that have a contributive value to growing SMEs, this will entail systems improvements for better client management of SMEs and data collection, as well as analysis of specific programs. The second stream is focused on SIDO’s program offerings, particularly to update its offerings and services to be more in line with global best practices, and to play a stronger facilitating role in strengthening the SME ecosystem.
