According to IFC, through this investment, IFC will provide transaction advisory support to KWSB to facilitate private sector participation in development of a water transmission infrastructure from Keenjhar Lake to supply water to various districts of Karachi (Project). The Project involves conducting ICB transaction for selection of a private developer responsible for designing, constructing, financing and maintaining the Project, including but not limited to, the pipeline, pumping station and filtration plant.
The objective of the Project is to assist KWSB in conducting international competitive bidding (ICB) process for the water sector in Sindh province. The successful implementation of the Project is expected to result in development of a greenfield water transmission infrastructure which will improve water supply for Karachi.
